  • I am having to much fun with responses to quit...

    Professor Wichman E-mail

    Claim:  A Michigan professor sent an e-mail telling Muslim
    students to leave the country.

    Status:   True.

    The story begins at Michigan State University
    with a mechanical engineering professor named
    Indrek Wichman.

    Wichman sent an e-mail to the Muslim Student's
    Association.
    The e-mail was in response to the students' protest
    of the Danish cartoons that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist.

    The group had complained the cartoons were 'hate
    speech'

    ============
    Enter Professor Wichman.
    ==========================================
    In his e-mail, he said the following:
    ===============================

    Dear Moslem Association,
    As a professor of Mechanical Engineering here at MSU
    I intend to protest your protest.
    I am offended not by cartoons,
    but by more mundane things like beheadings of civilians,
    cowardly attacks on public buildings, suicide murders,
    murders of Catholic priests (the latest in Turkey ),
    burnings of Christian churches, the continued persecution of Coptic
    Christians in Egypt, the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims,
    the rapes of Scandinavian girls and women
    (called 'whores' in your culture),
    the murder of film directors in Holland,
    and the rioting and looting in Paris France .

    This is what offends me,
    a soft-spoken person and academic,
    and many, many of my colleagues.

    I counsel you dissatisfied, aggressive, brutal,
    and uncivilized slave-trading Moslems
    to be very aware of this as you proceed
    with your infantile 'protests.'

    If you do not like the values of the West
    - see the 1st Amendment -
    you are free to leave.

    I hope for God's sake
    that most of you choose that option.
    Please return to your ancestral homelands
    and build them up yourselves instead of troubling Americans.

    Cordially,
    I. S. Wichman
    Professor of Mechanical Engineering
    =============================
    As you can imagine,
    the Muslim group at the university didn't like this too well.
    They're demanding that Wichman be reprimanded
    and the university impose mandatory diversity training for faculty
    and mandate a seminar on hate and discrimination for all freshmen.

    Now the local chapter of CAIR has jumped into the
    fray.

    CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations,
    apparently doesn't believe that the good professor
    had the right to express his opinion.

    ==========
    For its part,
    the university is standing its ground
    in support of Professor Wichman, saying the e-mail was private,
    and they don't intend to publicly condemn his remarks.
    ============================================================

    Send this to your friends, and ask them to do the
    same.
    Tell them to keep passing it around until the whole country gets it.

    We are in a war.

    This political correctness crap is getting old and
    killing us.

    END.

    ==================

    POST POST NOTE

    First: I did not write this!

    Second: I, Christy,  do not believe that
    Muslim people as a whole are any better or worse than I am, BUT this does
    have some validity in the free speech arena and we are AT WAR. If one side
    can say whatever they want then both sides should be protected equally. No
    matter who they are or where they work. Just be careful what you put in
    writing people and make sure you believe every word.

    IMHO.

  • Yes - the States is AT WAR.  But are they at war with Muslims?  Think about it.

  • @guff_shovel - We are at war with terrorism. At this moment it is directed at a country that happens to be mostly Muslim but that in itself is not why we are at war - nor do we believe it is a religious battle. Obviously many people disagree and think it is about religion. Perhaps it was right perhaps it was not, but we are there and we can not just back out. To do so would leave us vulnerable in ways I can not quite fathom. I am not very politically minded and not up on all the facts, but I do like to hear what everyone has to say. You have asked a good question.

  • @guff_shovel - @Lexabitionist - A lot of people bring religion into lots of things.  Those are the stupid people that think Jews & Muslims are a race instead of a religion.  Don't get me started, sista!!! LOL

  • This whole bit on how we treat muslims is tiring.    I've heard all about how horribly we've treated the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay.    I have a solution to this.    Don't take prisoners.

  • A friend sent me this.  Tried to check it to snopes, but didn't find an entry.  I'm tired of the whole tolerence thing applying to me having to tolerate someone else's beliefs while they try to walk all over mine.  I can assure you I don't like anyone trying to squash my freedom of speech or civil liberties.  Anyone coming here should be willing to get along, or go home.  We got along just fine before you got here, and we probably won't miss you when you are gone.

    Subject: FW: A German's View on Islam

    Dr. Emanual Tanay is a well known and highly respected psychiatrist.

    A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War ll owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

    'Very few people were true Nazis,' he said, 'but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools.  So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything, I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.'

    We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely
    irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectra of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.

    It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christians or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over that entire
    continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor killing. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is that the 'peaceful majority,' the 'silent majority,' is crowded extraneous.

    Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

    The average Japanese individual prior to World War ll was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across Southeast Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.

    And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'?

    History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Their silence empowers the fanatics.

    Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghanis, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.

    Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.  People who do not learn from historical past are destined to repeat it.

    As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics, who threaten our way of life.

    Lastly, at the risk of offending, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on, is contributing to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand and destroy.

    So, extend yourself a tiny bit and send this on and on and on!  Let us hope that millions, world wide, will read this - think about it - and send it on.

    'Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up.' Well, they don't speak up!  After 9-11 they are still altogether silent.

    If it continues, let's face reality, you know what that means?

    It's a familiar story.

  •  Idunno - I feel that the war on terrorism is an exercise in futility, just like the war on drugs.  Neither really scratch the surface or solve any of the root problems.  Certainly Iraq wasn't the beehive of Al Queada activity that it was said to be before the American invasion.

    In the end, Iraq had a real dickhead for a leader, but so does the States.

  • @guff_shovel - I couldn't agree more!
