  • The Innocent Must PAY!!!

    And the innocent would be me of course. So here is what happened...

    I take one day (referred to simply as "that day") a month and dedicate it to paying bills, doing paperwork, filing, etc. It keeps me somewhat organized as well as sane knowing everything was done at least once that month. Today is "that day". If a bill comes in tomorrow and is due next week - to bad. Whoever is harassing me with after-that-day bills has to wait until the next dedicated "that day". I do not schedule them either and god forbid it fall within the same week as my other monthly issue - I tend to get really nasty when that occurs.

    Anyhow, I always know when I am pushing the limit on paying my bills because strange toll free numbers start appearing on my caller ID. All of which are ignored. Get in line Debtors - you will get your money eventually in the meantime thank god for the "Ignore Caller" feature on my Blackberry - off to voice mail you go!!! Naturally I have no intention of returning any of those messages. Does anyone?

    So I opened all my bills this morning saving the AT&T Mobile for last. Glad I did. My jaw hit my desk when I saw the amount due $538.52. My blood pressure spiked. This particular bill is for 2 of my kids. I just knew I was going to be chewing my 16 year old daughter a new ... well you know. I went through her portion of the bill, all 35 pages of it, and noticed not one single extra charge. She was born with fingers made to text non stop all day and all night (an issue for another day) but never went beyond the plan limits. Total of her portion of the bill $60.13.

    The last 3 pages were from my 13 year old sons phone. Ahem. Total of his bill $478.39. "JESUS FUCKING CHRIST YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!" - rang through the house, down the street and around the block. I heard the echo. Followed by "I AM GOING TO FLOG THAT LITTLE FUCKER!!!" Followed by "Hmmm.... maybe the phone company made a mistake..." So I looked at his 3 pages of info and noticed three lines stating Data Transfer. 1st Charge $174.40. 2nd Charge $6.30. 3rd Charge $192.93 and then four charges for .01 each (plus the regular monthly fee of $89.99 + the mystery fees we all pay). He had found the Internet on his phone and I had no plan for the Internet on his phone. BUT unless you have a block on your phones your little phone deviants can and will get online. The cursing rang out again.

    I called AT&T and asked them in the future to include vaseline when they send bills for this much because I feel like I have been attacked from the rear.

    If you have seen this child tell him to run for the hills.
    Coming home is NOT a good idea today.

  • When I got the kids their phones they had free internet for one month.  As soon as the free was up...I called Sprint and told them to block that feature from their phone numbers...they don't need it.  I would be soooo mad. 

    I guess I will join Ann in hiding him for awhile!!!

  • Well his curiosity got the best of him, and I guess your going to get the best of him to lol! Nah leave the little bugger alone we all make mistakes! Unless he knew he didn't have internet and did it on purpose! Then I will post his picture where I am at the the telphone poles as well for ya!

    P.S. I had to get rid of sprint anyways because it seemed like every month there was something else added to my bill. I would pay it down to 0.00 balance then the next cycle I would be like how did it get $400.00 again? UGG they are a pain in the Ass!

    I negotiated with AT&T when the same thing happened with my nieces phone.
    They worked with me, and I got her on a unlimited data plan and applied that same rate to the outrageous portions.   But, then again, I was with AT&T (Cingular) since they were founded.

  • Whoa. That is a hell of a bill alright. I'd head for the hills for sure. You can definitely get the bill reduced by making a big deal out of it.

  • Bury the phone, don't kill the kid, Tell the phone Co. to take a hike, was not your kid and you have DNA to prove it. Give the kid a string and 2 cans, your bill will be 0 next month. Works for me.

    Not going to mention the missing item this time, but you better get off your fanny and do something about it. LMAO

  • Now I know why some animals eat their children.....we have Sprint....daughter tex-messages about and has unlimited....our phones are on calls only and all are blocked from the net....the bill.......$37.00 per month.......I can live with this...I tell you it sucks to be your son right now.....

  • OH mY GOSH!!  my eyes popped out just reading this,  and then I was laughing..........I even read this to my husband!  I thought my week was bad last week when my cellphone company double charged me online and wouldn't return my payment,  causing me to be overdrawn!??  but this is sooooo much worse..........I am keeping my mouth shut!  Poor woman!   LOL

  • Hi! I saw your name on someone's site and it intrigued me so I stopped by to say hello. The way you write is very funny! Maybe you could talk it down with the phone company, or maybe you can have you son pay you back, slowly, one day when he gets a job.....Nice to meet you!

  • OH MY GOD!!  That is INSANE!  I would definitely have to kill him!  I read my kids the riot act when they got cell phones ... I always worry that they will use more than my 700 peak minutes .. luckily their friends are AT & T so it's free mobile to mobile.  So far they have been good about texting, but I make them pay for their text messages.

    This reminds me of the time our internet number somehow got changed to a non-toll number and our phone bill was hundreds of dollars .. it really does cause a major heart failure ... make him pay his portion of the bill .. he'll never do it again!

  • can you get ahold of his phone and block the internet with a password that only you know?? that way he can't get on the net with his phone.... that is just insane and kids really don't know that there was extra charges..they figure that since it is on the phone it is just another 'included' feature... whatever happened to cell phones just being that...a phone and nothing more????
